5:40 Newcastle Racing Tips (13th April)

NEWCASTLE 5.40

A class 6 sprint with 12 runners and 2 possible pacesetters, Thaki is the more natural front runner of the pair and using a 2021 rating is my joint 5th top rated, with an easy lead it could do enough to make the frame but would need to bounce back to form and improve time wise to win this race so one I would lay if its a single figure price which I doubt. One that according to the early tissue prices will be a single figure price and one that I will look to lay is Blazing Son 9/2 who likes to track the leaders but time wise has a few spots to find I doubt any of the others that I would feel confident to lay will be single figure prices so wont represent value to lay. Dream Together is my other joint 5th top rated and it likes to track the pacesetters, rated just 3lbs higher using a Southwell rating is Mumcat in 4th top spot and this one can be held up or track the leaders. Jem's Bond sits in 3rd top spot using a course and distance time it recorded this year when winning here so could make the frame but I doubt it will be an each way price (well my definition of each way value). The bottom weight Merry Secret is my 2nd top rated using a course and distance rating recorded in 2022 and usually stays on strongly over this distance and may be better when tried over a longer distance. Top rated on my figures is TATHMEEN 8/1 who is well handicapped and if able to reproduce its best course and distance rating from this year would see it back in the winners circle it is a versatile type when it comes to racing tactics and has even been known to lead before and is drawn on the favoured high side of the course, it has finished 3rd and 2nd in its last 2 runs and hopefully will go one better here.

Tathmeen 12/1 8th -1pt

Lay bets: Thaki +1pt, Blazing Son -3.33pts

Total -3.33pts
