5:30 Southwell Racing Tips (10th January)

SOUTHWELL 5.30

I can only see one front running type in this field of 11 runners in this class 6 race over the minimum distance for apprentice jockeys who can carry but not use their whips, so once again what horse or horses can reproduce their best form without the persuading whip, its something I've never recorded so I haven't really got a clue. One I would look to lay is Ramdon Rocks 7/2 who might need further to show its true worth and this race might not be run to suit. MEHMO 7/1 is the possible pacesetter and is my 2nd top rated using Tapeta times from elsewhere and if allowed an easy lead could possibly lead all the way, *ELLIE PIPER 14/1 is my top rated on those figures from elsewhere thanks to the jockeys 5lb allowance and this one likes to track the pacesetters and at the price it has to be an each way punt, Q TWENTY BOY 8/1 will be trying to stay on at the finish and is my top rated on just course and distance ratings, I will be looking to dutch all 3 of them but my stakes wont be very strong because of the no use of the whip rule.

Mehmo 7/1 1st +7pts
Q Twenty Boy 16/1 6th -1pt

Lay bet Random Rocks +1pt

Total +7pts

SOUTHWELL 8.30

I can see 4 known front running types in this race of 14 runners in a class 6 race, of these You're Cool would/could be dangerous but the stall 14 draw is enough to put me off its chances, one I will look to lay is *Astrophysics 6/1 who can find this distance stretching its stamina too far so this race should not be run to suit it. I do have a feeling that this race might be set up for something coming from off the pace but the problem is I can see that 3 that are capable of winning this race, RED ALERT 12/1 is my top rated using Tapeta ratings from elsewhere but isn't a consistent with its form but did run ok last time out when finishing 3rd, STARTER FOR TEN 9/1 who likes to track the leaders is my 2nd top rated on just course and distance times and will like the fast early pace and it usually stays on strongly nearing the finish while my top rated here is IRELAND'S EYE 5/1 who won last time out and has been found a good opportunity to follow up here my only doubt here is its stall 8 draw with 2 front running types drawn either side of it in stalls 2, 4, 10 and 14 so I have to rely on luck that it gets a clear run.

*NR

Ireland's Eye 5/1 7th -1pt
Starter For Ten 9/1 9th -1pt
Red Alert 12/1 Unp -1pt

Total -3pts

Total on the day +4pts
