2:30 Catterick Racing Tips (24th August)

CATTERICK 2.30

A nice looking class 4 race with 10 contestants and one known front running type, I would possibly look to lay both Vintage Clarets and Spring Is Sprung but as they are both 3yo’s I'm never 100% sure as they could still improve without warning, Dark Shot can struggle to stay the distance is there's a fast early pace, Oso Rapido, Embour, Muscika, Impeller and Birkenhead all have pieces of form that would see them compete to make the frame but this race might fall into the lap of JORDAN ELECTRICS 9/1 (EW) who is a confirmed front runner and if allowed an easy lead, which could happen here unless something else changes from their usual racing tactics, and a repeat of its Hamilton rating would see it get back to winning ways and might even be worth backing each way.

MUSSELBURGH 2.50

A field of 9 runners with 3 that have been known to lead before, I will look to lay Koropick if its a single figure price as the trainer is 0-18 at this course and its last win was back in 2017, I might also lay the 3yo Primo who has only produced slow times over this distance, the 3 at the top pf the handicap are the known front running types but Abel Handy doesn't seem to want fast good to firm ground hence why its times are relatively slow, Canaria Prince is my 3rd top rated and could set the pace to the race so could be dangerous but I will be backing TANASOQ 13/2 who is versatile when it comes to its racing tactics and that does include leading and has a good positive jockey booking and if getting to the front then should prove more than hard to catch.

Tanasoq 13/2 3rd -1pt

CATTERICK 3.00

Twelve runners but only one natural front running type in Hot Scoop but I doubt it can lead all the way for the victory as it needs to improve a good few spots time wise so maybe one to lay as could Wades Magic be as it doesn't seem to like the fast good to firm surfaces, Point Of Woods can find the distance too far on good to firm ground so another lay if value to do so, Billian is capable of recording a good speed figure but usually on flatter courses and hasn't been in good form lately, Stronsay recorded a good speed figure at Hamilton last year but hasn't been anywhere near that standard so far this year and it also has poor trainer stats of 1-48 at this course, Ginato hasn't been in good form lately but its best from 2021 would see it be competitive here, others that are capable of going well are Portelet Bay and Freedom Flyer but neither have been in great form while the top weighted RAIN CAP 10/3 has been in tremendous form winning 3 of its last 4 races and its shrewd trainer has found it another good opportunity to add to its win tally.

LINGFIELD 3.40

A field of 12 for this class 6 race on the artificial Polytrack surface where I can see 3 runners, Viewfromthestars, Sir Rodneyredblood and Cool Spirit, who have been known to lead before and latter pair are course and distance winners and either could possibly do enough from the front to make the frame, Sir Sedric seems to either prefer a longer distance or the Tapeta surface so might be of value to lay, Real Estate has won its last 2 races and is going for the hattrick here and comes out in 2nd top spot on my figures so could possibly win this race but I will be backing the top weighted BIG BARD 14/1 who recorded a rating at Chelmsford last year which would be good enough to win this race and has what looks a significantly positive jockey booking who has a 21% win ratio on the stables older horses and at the price it has to be backed each way.

Big Bard 14/1 5th -2pts

Lay bet Sir Sedric +1pt

Total -1pt

Total on the day -2pts
