2:16 Newmarket Racing Tips (16th July)

NEWMARKET 2.16

On paper a nice looking class 4 sprint but there's only 7 runners which isn't any good for any each way bets and there is no known front runners in the field and then because they are all more like hold up types the speed figures are all relatively low especially for this class of race, The Green Man 7/2 might need further and this race might not be run to suit its racing style, both Bobby On The Beat and Tell’em Nowt could be outclasses at this level, Fighting Temeraire 7/2 won last time out on good ground but time wise that was a slow run affair so it might have been flattered by the result and it was in a class lower race than today's, if the early pace is slow it could have a chance of following up that win but with a fast early pace it might struggle to catch the leader/s, if the going is good to firm for this race my money will be riding on the 3yo KODIAS SANGARIUS 3/1 who has made the frame twice in its last 3 runs and looks to have been found an ideal opportunity here to register its first win on grass.

NEWBURY 2.56

A field of 14 for this Group 3 sprint with with a couple of known front running types and the 3yo Go Bear Go could set the pace to this race and comes out in joint 4th top spot on my figures, I cant see anything obvious to lay in the race, which I suppose at this level they shouldn't have too many flaws in their armour, the other 4th top rated horse is Diligent Harry who likes to track the leaders, Run To Freedom 12/1 who also likes to track the leaders is my 3rd top rated horse while Happy Romance 4/1 sits in the 2nd top spot and this one is usually held up for a late run, top spot goes to CHIL CHIL 14/1 (EW) who is returning to racing after being off for 315 days but it has won before when returning from a break and it is dropped in class compared to its last few runs and hopefully its fully fit and I think it has to be worth an each way punt in this race.

DONCASTER 5.45

Just 7 runners for this apprentice jockeys dash, High Security and Blazing Hot 8/1 will make sure there's a fast early gallop as the former comes out in 3rd top spot on my figures and could be dangerous if allowed an easy lead as the latter might not appreciate the really fast ground and its best figure came from back in 2020 so it might be worth laying, Sound Of Iona has won its last 2 races and comes out in 2nd top spot here and it could well complete its hat trick but I will take a punt on the bottom weighted horse YOUNG TIGER 16/1 who comes out top rated on just 2022 times and on overall times, it ran 3rd when High Security was 2nd at Ripon in May beaten by half a length on level weights but meets that opponent on 10lb better terms in this race so looks the value call in the race and I would have gone each way if there had been 3 places up for grabs.

*I mistakenly detailed this as ew then noticed Eric's comment.

HAYDOCK 8.00

Another field of 7 here with just Boudica Bay known as a front running type but I doubt it can lead all the way for the victory but never say never and it might be a shorter price than it merits because it won last time out on good to soft going, Time Shadow doesn't seem to appreciate really fast ground, Aquadabra can produce good speed figure ratings but usually in a lower class race, Amor De Mi Vida 11/4 has been in good form lately and comes out in 2nd top spot on my figures but I expect it will be a shortish priced favourite, I will take a chance on SECOND COLLECTION 15/4 who admittedly will have to improve on what its shown so far this year but it does have a speed figure from 2020 that would make it my top rated, its a shame there isn't 3 places up for grabs because an each way punt would be the best way to go in this race.
