This is another method I had given to me - so please do some research before betting with your hard-earned cash.
It isn't the best of systems I've come across but it does claim to show an overall profit of just over 8%.
According to the results I was given they placed 54 bets at 5 points each way and it returned 587 points so 47 points profit. I am not a fan of each-way betting because it usually represents poor value when the payout is a fifth of the odds.
If you place a £10 bet each-way at odds of 10/1 and it makes the frame (doesn't win) you get £30 returned, so you are actually betting at odds on.
If you find a 20/1 shot that gets placed you receive £50 which equates to a 6/4 shot, so not as much value as you would think.
The best time to back each way is in a 5 runner race and you fancy the second favourite.
In this instance, you are covering 40% of the possible returns and getting paid at a quarter of the odds and not a fifth as seen with three places for eight runners or more.
Obviously, it is very very unlikely that the second fav will be as big as 10/1 but it is definitely a value bet. Your horse has a realistic chance of winning and is expected to beat the other 3 runners so you would get a good percentage of your money back, usually about half of your stake back if it finished 2nd.
